Essence
bestselling author Eric Pete is back with "Lady Sings
the Cruels," a story of love, torment, dreams, vengeance
and much more. Amelia's dreams included a singing career
and a man, Bodie. Sure they were different in many ways,
but they had a love that was strong.
Bodie had dreams also, but one lapse in judgment put
him in a situation that put his future on hold, at least
for a while he thought. Never did he imagine that while
he was incarcerated Amelia would find love elsewhere,
and definitely not with one of the prison guards responsible
for keeping him in line during his time in the belly
of the beast.
While you know at some point everything is going to
come to a head, you're still anxious and Mr. Pete has
you rooting for Amelia, who never knew that her man
was actually innocent of the crime he went to prison
for.
The author takes you inside Amelia's heart as she loses
the desire to pursue her dream of becoming a singer.
Even more interesting is the inside look behind prison
walls as Bodie deals with his demons, which come in
the form of memories of yesteryears, as well as the
other inmates he must coexist with. Mr. Pete will be
appearing at a book signing on Nov. 25 at Black
Images Book Bazaar, and Mr. Pete will be an upcoming
guest on KKDA's Reporters Roundtable. Keep your radio
dial locked to KKDA 730 AM, Sundays at 8:00 a.m. for
more details.
