As Father’s Day approaches,
Greg Ammons’ book is on bookshelves
is sharing a father’s love.
“Now My Eye Sees You – What a
doctorate did not teach me about
God…my son did,” begins with
Dr. Ammons story of years of barrenness
for him and his wife, Lisa.
The senior pastor of First
Baptist Church in Garland, Dr.
Ammons was 43 when Lisa told
him that she was pregnant. Of
course there were concerns
because she was 39 years old, and
they were both skeptical because
of their ages.
Unfortunately for the Ammons,
the plans they made, which were to
wait at least five years before
becoming parents, were not God’s
plans. The five years turned into
18 and they thought maybe it was
not going to happen.
Dr. Ammons openly discusses
his feelings and readers will be
able to identify with the issues the
couple faced as they prepared for
the newest member of their family.
As it got closer to their due date,
Dr. Ammons talks about feeling
anxious. Equally endearing is the
love he describes that he felt as
Camden Isaac came into the
world.
“After Camden’s birth, I understood
better what others had been
trying to tell me,” he writes.
“Immediately I felt a depth of love
which I had not experienced previously…
this love for my child was
different.”
Dr. Ammons also talks about
his relationship with his father and
the limited time his father had with
Camden, before passing in 2006.
Parenting is an awesome experience
and to read someone else’s
story will give hope to others.
Complete with scriptures and
explanations about the bible, Now
My Eye Sees You is a wonderful
expression of a father’s love. You
can actually envision the look on
Dr. Ammons’ face when young
Camden declares, “I want to be
like you, Daddy.”
