When you think of top
female groups in the music
industry, this group might
not be the first you think of,
but the best-selling female
trio in gospel music history,
Trin-i-tee 5:7, is back again
after a brief hiatus and they
are ready to top the charts
once again.
Now under the manage-
ment of Music World Enter-
tainment, the ladies are taking
charge of their careers with
the experienced hand of
Matthew Knowles (Beyon-
ce’s dad) guiding their paths.
“We have a lot more
freedom and we are able to
manage having that freedom,”
said Angel Taylor, adding that
after a four-year hiatus, the
group members are in a better
position than ever.
Adrian Anderson is the
newest member of the group.
Previously Adrian worked
as a makeup artist with Estee
Lauder and MTV on her
clientele list. She became
friends with the members of
T57 and when one of the trio
departed, they asked her to fill
the void.
Although she could sing,
Adrian said the thought of
joining the group never
entered her mind. She didn’t
jump at the chance either.
“I said, ‘I have to pray
about it,’” she recalled.
During a recent interview,
Adrian says she is very proud
of their project, T57, pointing
out that their ministry is
“inspiration.”
“We’re not dictating,” she
explained. “This (T57) is
about understanding, about
giving yourself a chance. It’s
about knowing what to do
while you have the opportunity.”
She added, “This project is
about knowing yourself and
developing yourself.”
Angel agreed.
“We’re very proud of this
project,” she said. “We wrote
80% of the songs. They are
very personal and talk about
our life experiences. We
wanted our audience to feel
like they’ve gotten to know
us.”
Admittedly the trio has
been through quite a bit
since their last CD. Two are
from New Orleans and can
talk about the devastation to
their homes and families as
a result of Hurricane Katrina.
Chanelle Haynes, the
third member of the group,
has her own firsthand
accounting of the travesty and
sense of despair.
Angel’s family lost their
homes and everything,
including photo albums and
other memorabilia, she said,
“But we are so grateful
because everyone survived.”
Survival, growth and hope,
are just a few of the messages
listeners will derive from T57
as they listen to tunes reflect-
ing R&B, soul, hip hop and
gospel, with the influences of
James Brown, R. Kelly, Doug
Miller and Solange Knowles.
An enthusiastic Angel said
T57 fans won’t be disappoint-
ed when they listen to the CD.
“This is an awesome CD,
not just a good one,” she said.
“We have songs that are going
to touch your hearts. We have
a song for every mood.”
